Welcome to Bank of Venice. Feel free to make a deposit – AND a withdrawal. No penalties here, just good food, good drink and good times: A solid return on your investment.
Tom Elliott and Spoon Singh, the devious minds behind the Venice Ale House, have cooked up their second offering by the beach. Bank of Venice promises the same caliber of delicious local and organic fare, served up with equal parts of panache and sunshine. This time, they’ve tapped Chef Jason Feehrer, who has split his professional career between Hawaii (Palm Café – considered one of the “finest on the big island”) and British Columbia (Sooke Harbor House - one of “BC’s top restaurants”) – bringing a perfect blend of the Pacific Rim and the Pacific Northwest to Venice. Jason specializes in sustainable seafood and meats -- all GMO, hormone and antibiotic free -- but this is no froufrou cuisine. Expect hearty portions of Megan’s Meatloaf (prepared daily with Paso Prime grass-fed ground beef), Bangers and Mash (sausage courtesy of Neiman Ranch) and Mac & Cheese (with gluten-free noodles and 60-day raw, aged cheddar).
Then there’s the fish. Fans of the Venice Ale House haven’t been able to get enough of the amazing fresh fish offerings there, so the guys brought over (among other delicacies), Tom’s Catch-of-the-Day Ceviche recipe, classic Mussels Sauvignon (from Carlsbad, CA) and Seared Sea Scallops with garlic sautéed spinach and mashers.
And the boys haven’t forgotten about Venice’s Mexican roots. The Nachos del Banco, Shrimp and Bacon Quesadillas, and Carnitas Tacos are not to be outdone – perfect for a late night snack. The Bank doesn’t keep bankers hours. They’re open until midnight weekdays and 2am weekends.
Game on. Literally. The guys finally broke down and got a telly, so you will be able to catch your favorite sports team, but there’s only one TV, so no fighting over the remote. Bartender’s choice.
Along with the Venice Ale House, the Bank of Venice sets the trend in craft beer, wine and soju cocktails. With over 30 local ales in bottles and on tap, 24+ California offerings on the wine wall, and an amazing array of fresh fruit cocktail infusions from some of Venice’s finest mixologists, no one will leave the Bank thirsty.
By this time you must be asking yourself why anyone would name a restaurant after a financial institution. Easy. The Bank of Venice used to be the Bank of Venice – about a hundred and eight years ago. For real. Don’t believe it? Check out this archival photo:
